When I opened Oasis Accents in 2017, I was following my passion and love for decorating and my goal of becoming a small business owner. I saw an opportunity to leverage the significant commercial and residential growth in Frisco, TX. I pivoted to selling more and more artwork, right before the pandemic, based on my customers needs.

Fast forward, I had absolutely no idea that my purpose had nothing to do with decorating at all. It was so much greater than that. As time has passed, I have evolved, stayed true to who I am and what brings me joy. I love arts and entertainment, I love experiencing diverse cultures and I love to lead. More importantly, no matter what I do, I want to GROW and have a BIG IMPACT. I’m never satisfied with the status quo.

I’m truly blessed and honored to Chair, Frisco Arts Foundation through a historic period of growth for the arts. This past Tuesday evening, I presented our annual report to City Council and shared our vision for The Renaissance Era in Frisco.

I’m so happy that I let my passion evolve, that I listened to my inner voice and above all, that I let God order my steps because in the end, it’s not my plan, but HIS plan.

So while I still love decorating, my purpose is about leading a dedicated team of servant leaders, in order to broaden our vision for the arts, cast a wider net to bring more innovative arts programming and deepen the impact we have within our great Frisco community. I’m truly blessed!

Our customer’s vision started on vacation in France when she saw a fabulous built-in at the condo she was staying in. Back in Dallas, she was on a mission to create a unique space for family and friends. And of course, she chose Oasis for the centerpiece and we love it.

I’m back REFRESHED and RECHARGED! A week in Costa Rica was just what I needed. I laid by the pool, ate, drank and did absolutely nothing. I didn’t even take any pictures, so thank you to my in laws-in love for a great time and these beautiful pictures. I also did a lot of reflecting and thinking about “the next set”. More to come on that.
I rushed out of town so fast that I forgot to tell you the BIG news. I’m blessed and thankful to be asked to appear on NBC’s Texas Today’s “Inspiring Women” TV segment. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to share more of my journey from corporate to small business owner. So stay-tuned! The rest of August is shaping up to be insane, as I gear up for the holiday season (can you believe that’s here already), but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This gorgeous artwork went to the perfect home last year. This couple came into the gallery and fell in love with Leticia Herrera’s “Walkers” series. So Leticia and I did a consult at their home and we literally fell in love with them. We connected on so many levels.

I do sometimes get attached to the beautiful artwork that surrounds me. This one, I sat in front of everyday for several months and I engaged with countless customers about what they see. Everyone’s perspective was a little different, but who I see is ME and YOU, going through this thing we call life. We all take different paths towards our personal and professional goals, but in the end, I truly believe we’re all trying to find our light, our love and our joy.

Leticia, thank you for sharing your amazing talent and spirit with everyone you touch. I’m glad “Finding the Light” found the perfect home.

I love art that inspires us and creates joy! Join me in welcoming Mary Hewett to Oasis Accents.

“I am a mixed-media abstract artist. I am passionate about color, and I am inspired by flowers, pictures of nature and other artists. Most often I work on canvas; however, I paint on paper and cradle board as well. I use acrylic paints, paint pens, alcohol ink and other marking tools in my work.

I begin my paintings with color selections and allow the process to determine the direction. I love to do layered painting, fluid art, 3D ink art and textured design.
I live in Plano, Texas. I take art classes that interest and inspire me. I minored in art when I was in college, but my early focus was always on education. I have a master’s degree in education and over 40 years of teaching and administrative leadership in public education. I have taught art to elementary students and ceramics to adults. Now that I am retired, I do art full-time. Painting makes me so happy, and I love sharing that!!!”

Great day out on the golf course at the FC Dallas Golf Tournament. I’m thankful to be a 2023 Homegrown Partner and appreciate all of the opportunities and exposure it provides. Jennifer, thanks for joining me. We have one more skill to add to our toolkit (well, maybe not just yet), but it truly was a blast!

When you unintentionally dress and match one of your favorite joyful pieces, that’s the beginning of a great weekend and the 30-day countdown to a much needed vacation.
