This gorgeous artwork went to the perfect home last year. This couple came into the gallery and fell in love with Leticia Herrera’s “Walkers” series. So Leticia and I did a consult at their home and we literally fell in love with them. We connected on so many levels.

I do sometimes get attached to the beautiful artwork that surrounds me. This one, I sat in front of everyday for several months and I engaged with countless customers about what they see. Everyone’s perspective was a little different, but who I see is ME and YOU, going through this thing we call life. We all take different paths towards our personal and professional goals, but in the end, I truly believe we’re all trying to find our light, our love and our joy.

Leticia, thank you for sharing your amazing talent and spirit with everyone you touch. I’m glad “Finding the Light” found the perfect home.

I love art that inspires us and creates joy! Join me in welcoming Mary Hewett to Oasis Accents.

“I am a mixed-media abstract artist. I am passionate about color, and I am inspired by flowers, pictures of nature and other artists. Most often I work on canvas; however, I paint on paper and cradle board as well. I use acrylic paints, paint pens, alcohol ink and other marking tools in my work.

I begin my paintings with color selections and allow the process to determine the direction. I love to do layered painting, fluid art, 3D ink art and textured design.
I live in Plano, Texas. I take art classes that interest and inspire me. I minored in art when I was in college, but my early focus was always on education. I have a master’s degree in education and over 40 years of teaching and administrative leadership in public education. I have taught art to elementary students and ceramics to adults. Now that I am retired, I do art full-time. Painting makes me so happy, and I love sharing that!!!”

Great day out on the golf course at the FC Dallas Golf Tournament. I’m thankful to be a 2023 Homegrown Partner and appreciate all of the opportunities and exposure it provides. Jennifer, thanks for joining me. We have one more skill to add to our toolkit (well, maybe not just yet), but it truly was a blast!

The past few weeks have been truly amazing. In this short timeframe, I was on a magazine cover, elected Chair of Frisco Arts Foundation and was in a photoshoot for a table book on women leaders and creatives. It brings me so much joy to serve my community and showcase amazing talent. I’m looking forward to elevating and reimagining arts in Frisco. Thank you for all of your love these past several weeks, including the posts, text messages and calls. I am truly blessed to take on a broader leadership role in the arts community, as Chair of Frisco Arts Foundation.

A couple of months ago, I was asked to be included in a Frisco Style feature highlighting leaders, but I had absolutely no idea I would be on the cover. Even when some magazines were delivered to Oasis Accents this week, a gentleman told my sales associate not to tell me. He said, “It’s a surprise”. I opened Oasis the next morning and I saw a stack of magazines on the desk faced down. I grabbed one and received the shock of my life. Oh, Frisco Style, you got me good!

Thank you Becky Adams Johnson, Chris Johnson and Lisa Sciortino for recognizing my role and impact in Frisco. I am truly honored and humbled to be selected for the article and the cover.

If you know anything about me, you know I will never be the loudest in the room, but when I have a passion and a vision, you will see my incredible drive to execute against that vision, with unbelievable courage and the highest level of excellence. This is a continuous pursuit, so I appreciate all of the support, advice and prayers from my family and friends, customers, artists, community and business leaders. Above all, I know without a doubt, God is responsible for where I am today. I heard this bible verse during service this morning and it put this past week into perspective for me.

“Where there’s no vision, the people perish…” - Proverbs 29:18. Thank you Frisco for being a place where I can realize my passion and vision. I’m beyond blessed and grateful!
