The schools include:

  • Newman Elementary, 12333 Briar Ridge Road, affecting boundaries for Phillips, Robertson, Pink and Carroll elementary schools in the northwest portion of the District;
  • Hosp Elementary, 5050 Lone Star Ranch Parkway, affecting boundaries for Nichols and Bledsoe elementary schools in the southwest portion of the District;
  • Scott Elementary, 10550 Millbend Drive in McKinney, affecting boundaries for Mooneyham, Sonntag and Ashley elementary schools in the northeast portion of the District;
  • McSpedden Elementary, 14140 Countrybrook Drive, affecting boundaries for Curtsinger and Isbell elementary schools in the southeast portion of the District.

Members also approved a zone adjustment for Sem and Tadlock elementary schools to relieve crowding at Tadlock.

The District considers the following goals when evaluating attendance zones:

  • Effective utilization of space — efficient space utilization for effective instructional programs
  • Stability of students — minimize the number of students changing school
  • Neighborhood schools (elementary) — proximity of students to assigned campus
  • Maintaining diversity — heterogeneous campus enrollments, when practical
  • Promoting unity — community, promote unity throughout District

Efforts are also made to establish attendance zones that will hold for the longest period of time, given the District’s fast growth.
