Medical City Frisco received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for spring 2022. This national distinction recognizes Medical City Frisco’s achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and error in the hospital.

“We are honored to receive this superior recognition of our unwavering dedication to safe patient care,” says Patrick Rohan, Medical City Frisco’s CEO. “The national rating supports Medical City Frisco’s position as the destination of choice for healthcare excellence in our community.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over thirty national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“As our health care system continues to feel the strain of the pandemic, I thank the workforce and leadership of Medical City Frisco for sustained commitment to patient safety, day in and day out,” says Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is an outstanding achievement and one that is not possible without a 24/7 effort by the entire health care workforce to protect patients from harm. This community should be proud.”

Medical City Frisco is one of ten Medical City Healthcare hospitals to earn a Leapfrog A rating, including Medical City Arlington, Medical City Dallas, Medical City Denton, Medical City Fort Worth, Medical City Las Colinas, Medical City Lewisville, Medical City McKinney, Medical City Plano and Medical City Weatherford.

FRISCO – In partnership with the American Red Cross, Medical City Frisco is hosting a blood drive on Friday, April 8 from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Blood supplies have previously been at critically low levels during the pandemic and the need for blood is constant.

The Red Cross bus will be located in front of the hospital’s Medical Office Building at 5575 Frisco Square Blvd. in Frisco. Community members may sign-up to donate online or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins will be accepted depending on spot availability.

“We are proud to partner with the American Red Cross for such an important cause,” says Patrick Rohan, Medical City Frisco CEO. “Donating blood is an excellent way to make an impact on people in our community and across the country.”

Donors must have proof of age to ensure they meet the minimum age requirements and present a primary form of ID or two secondary forms of ID. You can learn more about donor eligibility guidelines here. COVID-19 antibody testing is performed on all donations. Donated blood with needed antibody levels may help treat patients with weakened immune systems who are battling COVID-19. People who have been vaccinated for COVID-19 may still donate blood, platelets or plasma.

“One blood donation can help up to three different people,” says Kay Raleigh, laboratory supervisor at Medical City Frisco. “The blood community relies on the generosity of donors, so it is vital that we participate in these types of life-saving efforts.”
