Despite a tough economy and rising tuition costs, finances don’t have to be a barrier to attending college.

Destination College, a Collin College program, will sort out financial aid facts from the myths at its “How to Apply for Financial Aid” workshop from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Preston Ridge Campus Conference Center, located at 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco.

Material covered will introduce attendees to financial aid concepts such as the different types of aid, the application process, working with theFree Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) and more.

Brooke Ingersoll, Destination College coordinator, said in today’s economy many people think there is no way they can afford a college education.

“What they don’t realize, is each year the Office of Federal Student Aid provides more than $150 billion to more than 15 million students attending colleges and universities,” Ingersoll said. “This workshop will help students and parents better understand the various types of aid available and will provide general insight into the steps necessary to complete a FAFSA.”

While this event is free to attend, registration is required. To register, visit www.collin.edu/destinationcollege. For questions, please call 972-377-1772.
