Spud Webb

The Texas Legends will honor Spud Webb prior to the Legends' game against the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.  A banner will be hung in Dr. Pepper Arena in honor of Webb's accomplishments during his legendary basketball career.

At only 5-foot-6-inches tall, Webb wasn't recruited by Division 1-A colleges, but after taking his Midland Junior College basketball team on to win a national title in 1982, he was recruited by North Carolina State and led the Wolfpack to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

Webb went to the NBA and played for the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kinds, Minnesota Timberwolves and Orlando Magic, and is known for winning the 1986 NBA Slam Dunk Contest despite being one of the shortest players to ever compete in the NBA.

Webb is the current president of basketball operations for the Texas Legends.
