On October 17, individuals and community groups from across the globe will participate in an event that is mobilizing people to help stop human trafficking. The event is The A21 Campaign’s “Walk For Freedom” - aiming to shed light on the 27 million men, women, and children who are still trapped in slavery today.

With over 17 different countries participating in last year’s walk, The A21 Campaign, a global anti-human trafficking organization, aims to raise even more awareness and funds in their 2nd annual Walk For Freedom 2015.

Elevate Life Church plans to take part in raising funds and awareness to support the fight of this worldwide injustice by walking at Beaver’s Bend Park in Frisco. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. and go until 12 p.m.; Elevate Life Church plans to raise $25,000 for the A21 Campaign. Anyone is welcome to join and participate in the walk, you can register here: http://bit.ly/1LrG2Hp

The Walk For Freedom’s signature attention-grabbing factor entails a single-file line of participants dressed in black with black tape across their mouth. As the line moves throughout each city, information about human trafficking is distributed to onlookers. However, the true multiplication of this message is seen globally through media coverage and pictures distributed through social media.

Modern-day slavery is a global reality that affects every continent and economic structure. There is no action without awareness. Through the Walk For Freedom, A21’s goal is to generate conversations that lead to improvements in global aftercare efforts and the prosecution of traffickers worldwide.

Pastor Sheila of Elevate Life Church says, “We are honored to be a part of the global Walk for Freedom on October 17. We want to shine a spotlight on injustice and mobilize people to take action. Human trafficking doesn’t just happen overseas, it’s happening in our backyard and together we can rescue, restore and rebuild the lives of human trafficking victims.”
