Lone Star Football Team Comes Up Short in State Title Game

The Lone Star High School football season ended with a 22-6 loss to Cedar Park in the Class 5A Division II State Championship Game. It was the most successful football season in FISD history.

At the heart of our success is a small-schools model that has guided the District through three decades of explosive enrollment growth. With the support of parents and the community, leaders remain committed to creating small, personalized learning environments, as evidenced by our mission to know every student by name and need. This philosophy drives our day-to-day efforts to understand each child’s unique circumstances, his or her strengths and weaknesses and the role we must play to ensure each student reaches his or her full potential.
It is also reflected in the deliberate manner in which we build and configure our schools. Elementary schools serve 700-plus students in grades K-5, middle schools serve 800-1,000 students in grades 6-8 and high schools serve up to 2,100 students in grades 9-12. (New high schools open with fewer grade levels and add one grade level a year until they serve grades 9-12.)
