First grader Jake Kline of Curtsinger Elementary School and his teacher, Laverne Forwark

Five Frisco ISD students had artwork displayed at the State Capitol in Austin as part of an exhibit sponsored by the Texas Art Education Association.

Each year, districts from across the state submit artwork from Kindergarten through 12th grade student artists to be selected for exhibition during Youth Art Month. Only 100 pieces are chosen state-wide.

This year, the exhibition took place March 1-7, 2014. The exhibit moved to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum on March 8, where it will be displayed until March 24. Students, teachers and families attended an awards ceremony March 9 at the Bullock Museum.

Congratulations to the following students whose work was displayed:

Mikaela Reda Castelao of Griffin Middle School, 8th grade, teacher: Jaime Snider

Devon Johnson of Heritage High School, 12th grade, teacher: Sarah Watkins

Jake Kline of Curtsinger Elementary School, 1st grade, teacher: Laverne Forwark. Art was also one of ten pieces selected state-wide to display at the National Art Education Association's national convention in San Diego in May.

Sophia Micheletti of Griffin Middle School, 7th grade, teacher: Jaime Snider

Linnea Sill of Lone Star High School, 12th grade, teacher: Jennifer Fronterhouse

In addition, Frisco ISD will showcase student artwork during separate District events in honor of Youth Art Month:
