Frisco, TEXAS (March 28, 2012) –Come see how Frisco Square transforms into an outdoor fine art gallery this weekend with free admission and parking - open to the public.  The 3rd annual Arts in the Square is an annual, juried Fine Arts festival featuring the best national and regional artists who sell their original creations; co-presented and hosted by Frisco Square Development and Frisco Arts, the Official Art Agency of Frisco. Again this year these organizations proudly support the Arts in the Square festival, an event that affords artists from around the country an opportunity to showcase their works to the North Texas community.

The festival kicks-off Friday evening with a VIP Reception honoring the student artists from Frisco ISD who submitted art for the annual poster contest. The event is held at the Frisco Discovery Center; the honorable Mayor Maso is attending. Saturday March 31st the festival is open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening is the Frisco Arts Fever Fundraising Gala 2012 from 8:00 p.m. until midnight. This special fundraising event is a 1970’s style disco and casino night also held at the Frisco Discovery Center; all members of Frisco Arts are eligible for a 20% discount.  The festival re-opens on Sunday, April 1st from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The artists are competing in the following categories: 2D Mixed Media, 3D Mixed Media, Acrylics, Ceramics, Drawings, Pastels, Fiber art, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metalwork, Oil, Photography, Sculpture, Watercolor, and Wood.  Several artists return to the festival this year. We welcome Jamie Rood – Photography, Barbara Mason – Watercolor paintings, Thomas Stotts – Acrylics, Daryoush Ababaf – Wood, Steve Klinsky – Clay, and Niki Gulley – Oil paintings. “Many of these artists run the circuit of the most prestigious art festivals in the country, we're honored to welcome them to Frisco," said Jim Leslie, of Frisco Square Development producers of the festival. Ongoing performing arts, interactive children’s art activities, live music provided by Collin County Song Writers Association, shopping and great food or snacks from Frisco Square’s award -winning restaurants and shops ensures that this is a festival everyone will enjoy. Over 12,000 visitors attended the 2011 festival. In addition to providing the community with a high-quality cultural event, the festival brings a great Fine Arts experience to the Frisco community.
