We are pleased to announce that the Rev. Greg Methvin has accepted the call to be the second Rector of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.   Methvin is currently the Vice-Rector at Church of the Incarnation in Dallas, Texas.  His first Sunday at St. Philips will be March 29, 2015.

Although new to the leadership of St. Philip’s, Methvin has been a longtime friend of the parish- ministering as both a preacher and speaker. “For years I have watched St. Philip’s grow – both in passion and mission.  I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to now make it my home and serve this community of faith as we walk into God’s great future for Frisco and the world.”

An ordained priest for ten years, Methvin has been serving in ministry for 30 years.  Prior to his time at Church of the Incarnation, he served as Vice Rector at Christ Church in Plano, Texas.  He received his Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Seminary and New Orleans Baptist Seminary and earned his certificate in Anglican Studies from Perkins Seminary at Southern Methodist University.  Methvin resides in Plano with his wife Steffanie and his two teenaged daughters Claire and Emily.

“We are confident that Fr. Greg is indeed the one that God has called to this place at this time. The Holy Spirit has spoken to us clearly and directly. We have no doubts,” says David Chalker, chairman of the search committee.

St. Philip’s is a congregation of over 1200 members located in the heart of Frisco, TX.  St. Philip’s serves the greater Collin and Denton county community and is a member of the Diocese of Dallas. The church is located at 6400 Stonebrook Parkway in Frisco, worship services are Sundays at 9:30 and 11:00 am. To learn more visit stphilipsfrisco.org.
