The holiday season is a favorite time of the year for many people. It is time to give thanks, show appreciation and spread love. In addition, the holiday season is a time to give back, and this is why the Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco team decided to organize the “Ornaments for a Cause” fundraiser. Residents of the senior living community will make Christmas ornaments on December 6, and the ornaments will then be available for purchase by the public from December 11 to December 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in House F. The residents’ families and the local community will have the chance to come to Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco during the designated time to purchase ornaments for $5, with the proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Dallas Chapter. Every year, the Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco team participates in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s to raise funds and awareness about this deadly disease. In addition, the assisted living and memory care community sees the impact of Alzheimer’s firsthand every day when caring for residents with the disease. This initiative is yet another example of how the senior living community is consistently involved in giving back to the local community.
“It is important to remember that the holiday season represents so much more than just gifts and good food,” said Candy Jiwa, executive director of Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco. “We planned this activity to get our residents into the holiday spirit and give them an opportunity to help with a meaningful fundraiser. We look forward to getting our Christmas cheer on and enjoying a fun afternoon with our residents, all while supporting a good cause.”
Studies show that there are currently over five million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, and because this number continues to grow it is critical to raise awareness about the disease. Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco realizes the importance of helping others all year long and especially during the holiday season. The team and residents hope that this heartwarming and interactive activity will truly inspire others to think about unique ways to give back. In addition, the senior living community is committed to keeping residents engaged by providing them with meaningful activities. Studies show that participating in activities that help others can improve seniors’ mental health and provide an overall sense of well-being.
“Every year before Christmas we come up with an original fundraiser and a fun activity to bring the holiday spirit to our community, and we are excited about this project,” said Jiwa. “We hope the public will help us lend a hand to those in need by purchasing the ornaments made by our residents with love.”
