Each new stage of our lives presents unique, challenging and potentially life-changing decisions that are not always easy to face. However, planning ahead and being prepared to make important decisions by gathering information in advance can help us feel confident in making sound life decisions. Taking the time to consider the future and plan accordingly can make it easier not only for us, but for our loved ones as well. A major decision that many parents and their adult children face is deciding if moving into a senior living community is the right choice, and if so, when and which one? For many seniors and their families such a process can appear to be a daunting task, which is why Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco is hosting a “Promote Peace Through Pre-planning” event on August 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the senior living community (1200 Main Street in Frisco, House A) to help educate area families. The event is free and open to the public and will include speakers from Dignity Memorial, Caring Transitions and Haiman Hogue PLLC. A speaker from each organization will discuss various topics such as downsizing, estate and family protection planning, senior relocation, finances and more. The lead speaker, Zane Belyea from Dignity Memorial will discuss how to have difficult conversations with loved ones, the importance of financial planning before an emotional crisis occurs and more. Guests will enjoy refreshments, sweet treats and raffle prizes. Members of the public are asked to RSVP to Candy Jiwa at 817-773-1136 or email@example.com.
“We understand that it can be challenging to talk with your loved ones about topics like finances or relocation, so we decided to host this event to provide resources for our residents’ families and the Frisco community,” said Candy Jiwa, executive director of Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco. “We cannot stress enough how beneficial it is to have these tough conversations that will help alleviate stress when life-changing events occur. This event will provide information and resources that will help families handle these situations with composure and fewer hassles.”
When downsizing, letting go of certain items can be a very difficult process as people attach sentiment to items in their home. That is why Anita Michini from Caring Transitions will be at the event to share tips for sorting, organizing and downsizing. Attorney Susan Barnett from Haiman Hogue will discuss estate-planning issues, including the development of wills, trusts, probate and more. Each speaker brought in by Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco is experienced in their respective field and they look forward to providing advice to meet each person’s individualized retirement needs and goals. Likewise, staff members of the senior living community are eager to be a resource and help host this informative and engaging event.
“We want to be impactful and make a positive difference in the lives of people living in the surrounding community, not just in the lives of our residents,” said Jiwa. “Our goal is to make sure they have every piece of information necessary to make the right decisions. Offering this free seminar will help answer any question guests may have and will provide them with information they need. We are thankful for all the speakers and their willingness to share their knowledge about such important topics.”
