El Día Del Niño (Children’s Day) is a day filled with culture and fun for children of all ages, and residents of Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco, an assisted living and memory care senior living community, recently participated in an engaging celebration with fifth-grade students from Polly Tadlock Elementary school. The seniors visited the school where they talked about the Mexican holiday and gave the children a small gift of appreciation. A few of the children read stories in their native Spanish and translated the meaning to English. It was a time for the children to share literature and traditions with each other and the seniors. This is yet another example of the growing partnership between Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco and Polly Tadlock Elementary school. The seniors visit the school on a regular basis for different activities, including gardening and reading.

“This is the first time we celebrated El Día Del Niño, and I am happy to say it was a success,” said Sarah Perry, counselor at Polly Tadlock Elementary. “Both the children and the seniors had a lot of fun learning new traditions and reading stories. We are very excited to continue our partnership with the senior living community.”

This project shows how Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco promotes intergenerational activities and a healthy lifestyle for its residents. The senior living community is always looking for ways to connect seniors with people of all ages. By continuing the partnership with Polly Tadlock Elementary School with various projects, the seniors and students experience ongoing social and physical benefits. Connecting seniors with younger generations can help boost their mood, stimulate their minds and improves their quality of life.

“Intergenerational activities are enjoyable for everyone involved, and we are thrilled we had another opportunity to work with the amazing students and teachers at Polly Tadlock Elementary,” said Candy Jiwa, executive director at Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco. “Our residents appreciate spending time with the students, and it was an extremely interactive and engaging activity. We believe that the generations can learn a lot from one another, and it is a privilege to work with the students on an ongoing basis.”

Mustang Creek Estates – whose mission is to provide seniors with high-quality residential-style assisted living and memory care at an affordable price – has additional locations in Allen, Burleson and Keller. Recently, Mustang Creek Estates opened its newest senior living community in Sachse.
