We recently celebrated my 20 year anniversary at the Marilyn Kuhlman Insurance Agency!  I officially have worked with  my mother in the family business for 20  years.  This doesn't account for the time I spent as a teenager filing or stuffing envelopes.  This is time spent as a licensed insurance professional.  As I look back, I realize this was not part of my childhood vision of where I would be as an adult. My childhood dream was to become a college professor and spend my summers taking Indiana Jones type excursions where I would collect data and artifacts for museums. Marriage and children have a way of planting our feet a little closer to home.

Please don't mistake that comment for disappointment in myself.  Helping build the agency has been quite an adventure! Insurance for families and businesses is very personal and much more important than most people give credit.  I enjoy discovering the special needs of each one of my clients.  Some clients have wealth that clearly must be protected with higher limits of liability and umbrellas.  Other clients are financially challenged at different points in their life and can not tolerate losses which requires lower deductibles for their coverage. What wonderful success stores I see in the lives of our clients!  We watch families grow, their children start driving, and then go off to college.  We watch businesses flourish by taking on new locations and building staff. Then, there are very defining times when life insurance is redeemed for the loss of a family member and I know that our services are valuable and essential when the worst happens.

Other benefits of working in a local family business is the commitment we give to the community which we work and live.  I have the pleasure of volunteering side by side with my mother in local support groups like The Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and The Frisco Noon Lions Club. It is through these experiences that I became a founding member and sustaining Chairman of The Frisco Farmers Market which is a Frisco Noon Lions Club project.

Sometimes we get more than we could ever ask for in life. Most of the time, the reality of our lives is more satisfying than the dream ever was.  I am proud to be a 20 year veteran of the Marilyn Kuhlman Insurance Agency!  May there be 20 years of family, dedication to our customers, and a supporting member of our community.
