Price Family Orthodontics, a Frisco orthodontist office, collected socks in a box to deliver to a local ER hospital for Christmas time. This project helps give each patient in the ER a present to open.
“We chose this project to help in the community after one of our patient's moms in local hospital administration, let us know that there are many people who go to the hospital and ER at Christmastime, without family and friends or many financial resources,” Dr. Price and his wife Amy said.
“These new socks might be the only gift they get."
In 2009, Robin, at Baylor Guest Services, and her daughter, a patient at Price Family Ortho, came up with a colorful way to brighten Christmas morning for every patient in the hospital on Christmas.
The duo launched Sox in a Box. They began collecting socks and putting them in boxes, which, like elves at the North Pole, they hand decorated. Other employees heard about what they were doing and wanted to help. Socks came pouring in by the hundreds along with decorated boxes. Each one carried a note from Santa to the patient unwrapping the present on Christmas morning.
The next year, Robin took her program to more hospitals. Socks came pouring in by the thousands from all over. Churches, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other community organizations joined Baylor staff in the effort.
In 2013, Robin spread the tradition to other Metroplex hospitals. Of course, since the beginning, the first Christmas Eve delivery has always been to veteran’s hospital, but Robin and her daughter took it further dropping off boxes at every hospital in the Dallas area. Robin's son is a soldier and this helps her and daughter Amber get through the holidays while he is away.
Over the years, Robin and her helpers have gifted more than 45,000 sox in a box, and countless smiles to patients and their families.
Over the past several weeks, patients at Price Ortho picked up boxes from their office. They brought the boxes home, decorated and filled them with socks. The doctor and staff at Price Ortho gathered them for delivery to a local ER patients at McKinney Baylor hospital.
"We feel so blessed to have such kind and generous patients and families,” they said. “We were so happy with the response we received.”

Thank you for helping many patients receive a small box from Santa this Christmas with a simple pair of socks.
