Community Lifeline Center (CLC) was organized in 1989 to provide information and referral services to people in crisis in McKinney. The service area was expanded beyond McKinney to include the north Collin County communities of Altoga, Anna, Blue Ridge, Celina, Copeville, Farmersville, Josephine, Lavon, Lowery Crossing, Melissa, Nevada, New Hope, Princeton, Prosper, Westminister and Weston.  Today CLC provides the following services: (1) information and referral to social service agencies in Collin County; (2) emergency financial assistance for housing, utilities, and medical expenses; (3) Lifeline Market, a client-choice food pantry which also provides household cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items; and (4) LifeSteps, free education classes to help individuals with the training and support to overcome obstacles to employment and self-sufficiency. From January 1, 2014 through August 31, CLC has helped 5,711 people in crisis regain self-sufficiency, already surpassing the 2013 total of 4,665 clients.
