Leadership Prep Raises $9000 for TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation

In 2012, TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation created the KidzBinz activity box program to help children battling cancer at Children's Health Dallas, and Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth. Children with cancer going through stem cell transplants stay in isolation for up to 90 days to rebuild their immune systems. Since the child’s interaction with family and the outside world is significantly limited, the KidzBinz activity box program was created to help entertain kids while isolated from a stem cell transplant and during in-patient cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. KidzBinz are tailored for each child and may feature games, paints, canvases, jewelry making materials, books, scrapbooks, and an age appropriate musical instrument.

Leadership Prep School in Frisco has participated in the TeamConnor Coins For Kids with Cancer campaignfrom its inception in 2012.  The kindergarten class raised $900 as the top fundraising class, with the entire school raising $8,000 for the Coins for Kids with Cancer campaign.  This was Leadership Prep’s 9th annual campaign, collectively raising more than $28,000 for childhood cancer research, and the KidzBinz activity box program.  All proceeds will be donated to TeamConnor’s local program partners, Children's Health in Dallas, and Cook Children's in Fort Worth.

Since 2008, TeamConnor has donated nearly $4 million to hospitals and research facilities to find new treatment options and ultimately cures. Childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of children, yet the federal government allocates less than four percent of its funds to pediatric cancer research.

TeamConnor will host the 16th Annual III Forks Golf Classic on October 19th at Gleneagles Country Club and the 10th Annual Northwestern Mutual Clay Shoot on November 2nd at the Dallas Gun Club.
