A 17-year-old and 15-year-old face charges of arson and criminal mischief related to three structure fires that happened Sunday, March 24. All three structures were ‘homes under construction.’

The largest of the three structure fires is considered a ‘total loss,’ totaling approximately $250,000 in damages. In that case, dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call at 6:22 p.m. about a fire at 15178 Beckley. Despite heavy fire and smoke, Frisco firefighters had the blaze ‘under control’ by 6:46 p.m. Still, the house frame had burned to the ground.

“The radiant heat was so hot it damaged one of our engines and a ladder truck,” said John Gillette, Frisco Fire Marshal.  “The extreme heat broke glass and melted some of the plastic elements on our vehicles and equipment.”

The second fire resulted in approximately $500 in damages to a second floor ‘media room’ at 11239 Ashley Drive.  There is no apparent damage as a result of the third fire at 15196 Bardwell Lane, which was confined to a living room fireplace.

The 17-year-old was jailed as an adult at the Frisco Police Department. The 15-year-old was detained and taken to the Collin County Juvenile Detention facility.
