Frisco Family Services, a local nonprofit that is currently celebrating its 25th year of commitment to the Frisco and Frisco ISD community, hosted its annual Mayor’s Golf Classic on Mon., June 17. A great day of golf and camaraderie was enjoyed by all 132 golfers as they joined Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney on the course to support their local neighbors in crisis.
“Years ago, when I was just getting my career started, a family member fell on hard times, and Frisco Family Services stepped up and assisted them with their mortgage payments that actually helped keep them in their home,” said Mayor Jeff Cheney. “I can personally attest to the value they bring to this community.”
Golfers consisted of local community members and business leaders, and the tournament was chaired by Michael Howard - Principal and Studio Leader at Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, Inc. Just as many of the players have demonstrated their commitment to Frisco Family Services’ mission for the last 25 years, through additional participation in various raffle drawings, putting and longest drive challenges, their abundance of support resulted in success!
“We are honored and truly grateful to be part of a community that is not only growing in size but also in the amount of support generously provided to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in crisis,” said Melanie Smoot, Development Director at Frisco Family Services. “On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, and the families we serve, a very big thank you goes out to our golf tournament sponsors, in-kind donors, and volunteers for making this event possible. Another reason to call our 25th year, a banner one!”
Proceeds from the Mayor's Golf Classic benefit Frisco Family Services’ programs and services that assist more than 3,400 individuals in the Frisco and Frisco ISD communities each year.
