Fear Factory Insanitarium

Lakeside Community Theatre’s (LCT) Fear Factory Insanitarium Haunted House will open for a sixth year on Friday, October 11 and run every Friday and Saturday night from 8 p.m. until midnight, through November 2 in The Colony.

The haunted house follows the story of Dr. Lucious Blackburn, a brilliant but mad genius. Scorned for his "research," he was banned from the medical profession for his morbid experiments. Forced out from the world he established his own, new hospital in the abandoned Rosehill Hotel. There he began molding it into his own psychiatric facility, where he could perform any surgery he wanted. Now every year in October he accepts new patients... and this year he's looking for someone special to help him with his new experiment!

This year’s guests will encounter even more terrifying experiences as they come face to face with Dr. Blackburn’s patients. If you loved it last year, you’ll be totally amazed this year with new effects and rooms that have been added.

Fear Factory Insanitarium redefines what it is to be a haunted house. We push the limits on our interactivity and surround our guests with a truly terrifying environment. We pride ourselves on our strong actors and unique spaces, which when combined create a scare like no other.

Fear Factory Insanitarium is all volunteer based. We develop a committee which is made up of volunteers — The Colony residents Keegan Arnold, Jason Herrington, Krysten Hahn, Deborah Roche and Donna Arnold and Rockwall resident Eric Fisher. We start planning our haunted house about eight months before we open. Keegan Arnold, Jason Herrington and Eric Fisher are the key designers. Keegan begins with the design plan along with Jason Herrington and Eric is the technician who comes in and designs the lighting, sound and special effects. The staff of scare actors are made up of all volunteers from around the DFW area. Also, every position outside of scare acting is a volunteer. That includes security, box office and maintenance.

We want our patrons to become part of the haunted house, so we are known to have one of the most interactive haunted houses in DFW. Keegan, who initiates the design, never uses the same plan twice so even our seasoned patrons never know what to expect when they enter the Fear Factory Insanitarium. This year, the exit and entrance are in different locations along with many new rooms. Our patrons will experience horror and be terrified as they face the changes to this year’s haunted house.

The city of The Colony has been very supportive with their sponsorship of Fear Factory Insanitarium. LCT thanks the city for helping to bring an experience like no other to the community for the past six years.  “We have patrons from all over the North Texas area visit the Fear Factory Insanitarium and we are looking forward to terrifying even more visitors this year.”

Fear Factory Insanitarium is located at 6303 Main Street in The Colony.

This experience is not recommended for the faint of heart or small children. In order to make wait time more enjoyable, there is no waiting in line as guests are entertained with a movie that is shown on a large screen outside.
