Students, families, and avid runners are invited to the eighth annual 5K and
1-Mile Fun Run of Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney on Saturday, Nov. 23 – the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the first race leaves the starting gate at 8 a.m. in front of Cooper Fitness Center in Craig Ranch, McKinney.

Again this year, area schools will compete for trophies based on participant turn-out for the race. Students from winning schools will get to see their principal or athletic director Kiss a Pig (yes, a live one). Medals will be awarded the fastest runners in multiple age divisions, from young to old. The race is directed and timed by Racing Systems through Run-On! of McKinney.

Participants will enjoy a party atmosphere in “Myrtle Village” both before and after the race. Entertainment will include a petting zoo, face painter, warm-up exercises and access to sponsors’ booths. Area businesses are invited to join in sponsoring the race, with sponsorship rates ranging from $250 to $5,000.
