She had no idea that offering a spare building next to her Main Street home would lead to the beautiful facility that fills the east wing of City Hall. Vivian McCallum was never in it for the glory, though. She just wanted Frisco to have a library. “I think [about] my first visit to [a] library,” reminisces Ms. McCallum. “I thought it was the most wonderful thing I’d ever seen and I loved the smell of the books.
Mayor Maso will formally recognize Ms. McCallum’s contributions at the June 7th City Council meeting as part of Frisco Public Library’s 25th Anniversary celebration. The City Council, Friends of the Library, and the Library Foundation board will join Director Shelley Holley in celebrating past accomplishments and future goals of the Library.
“We are excited to honor Vivian McCallum for her vision and contribution in the creation of the Frisco Public Library,” says Shelley Holley.
The public is welcome at this special event. Join the festivities in Council Chambers at 6:30pm. There will be light refreshments. For more information about the Library, visit friscolibrary.com.
