“WEE READERS” STORY TIME FOR 0-23 MONTHS: New Early Literacy class at Frisco Public Library

The human brain develops most rapidly during the first three years of life, completing most of this process by age two.  With this in mind, Frisco Public Library debuts the Wee Readers early literacy class as part of the Library’s continuing effort to educate and inspire future readers.

Specially trained library staff will use a wide variety of approaches to engage young minds and provide caregivers with tools to be used outside the library.  The class is open to children from birth through 23 months of age and their guardians.

“Nurturing early brain development is essential to a child’s future learning ability and emotional wellness,” Youth Services Librarian Lisa Bubert explains. “The good news is that it’s easy to do! Parents just need to know the basics, which are taught in the Wee Readers’ class.”

The class features:  books, rhymes, songs, music, and bubble time.  Instructors model techniques which integrate fun, caregiver bonding, and vital brain development tools.

The Wee Readers class begins Friday, January 15th, at 10am and meets weekly thereafter.  Tickets will be available on class days at the second floor Ask Us! desk, when the Library opens. Find information about this and other early literacy classes at friscolibrary.com/youth.
