Frisco TX - Post officer elections and installations were recently held at Frisco Peter J Courcy American Legion Post 178 it was announced today by Fred Rogers, Post 178 Commander.  The Post is named in honor and memory of Cpl. Peter J. Courcy, a Frisco resident, who was killed in action in 2009 in Salerno, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to Commander Rogers “The Post is growing rapidly and already has over 170 members”.  Membership in The American Legion is made up of “honorably discharged” veterans of seven war time periods.  The American Legion has consistently been the largest and most influential veterans’ organization in this country, since its founding by veterans of World War I in 1919, and today has over 3,000,000 men and women supporting its membership ranks.

American Legion Post 178 is a 501 (c) 19 non-profit organization and invests 100% of ‘ear-marked’ donations to the designated project.  “Without a building to support we have minimal overhead, no salaries and are committed to supporting veterans and their families as well as the community,” stated Rogers.
