Don & Myrna Monnier
On October 6, 2016, Frisco residents Don and Myrna Monnier celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They have four children, 13 grandchildren and one great granddaughter, born earlier this year.

Don and Myrna (Fitzsimmons), originally from Tonawanda, New York, met in 1955 following Don’s return from the Korean War. They were wed October 6, 1956.

Shortly after beginning their life together, the Monniers relocated to Southern California where Don and Myrna had their children and Don began working at General Dynamics and later with General Electric. In the mid ‘70s, Don and Myrna moved north to Washington and while there, Don trained for and ran the Portland Marathon, in both 1983 and 1984.

In 2003 the Monniers moved to Frisco to be closer to two of their daughters and many of their grandchildren. These days, in addition to taking care of Don, Myrna volunteers at the local LDS temple in Dallas. Don enjoys getting hot dogs at Costco, watching old movies, and playing Risk on the computer. (He is the self-proclaimed Risk champion of north Texas.)

Congratulations are in order for this charming couple – 60 years is no small feat!
