The University Interscholastic League has released the state’s new athletic districts as part of a biennial realignment and reclassification.

With the state’s largest high schools moving to a new 6A conference, all seven Frisco ISD high schools, including Independence, will compete in the 5A conference.

The student enrollment range for high schools in the 5A conference is similar to the old 4A with a range of 1,060 to 2,099 students.

The following football and basketball alignment takes effect for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years. District alignments for other activities will be released in the order of their seasons.
