Frisco emergency responders tend to an "injured" Liberty High School student during a motor vehicle crash reenactment outside the school.

The Frisco Police Department, in conjunction with the Frisco Fire Department and Frisco Independent School District, hosted its 12th annual Shattered Dreams program on April 10-11 at Liberty High School.

Shattered Dreams is a two-day program designed to educate students about the dangers of underage drinking and the severe consequences that can result from impaired driving. The program is coordinated by the police department’s School Resource Officer Unit and is held at a different Frisco ISD high school each year.

A student-produced video set the scene for a motor vehicle crash reenactment staged outside the school. The production included student actors and an actual response from police, fire, CareFlite and a funeral home who took “victims” away.

The Grim Reaper also visited classrooms to claim additional students as victims of drunk driving. Funeral services were held and memorials were posted in common areas.

“It’s so relevant to some of the issues we have in today’s society as high school students,” said Liberty senior Rachel Wang. “It makes you really re-think the actions that you take and how to make the right decisions.”
