The Frisco Parks & Recreation Department is offering a variety of camps and classes this summer, and one series of classes sure to impress is the Rocket Science LEGO series.

Though some are already sold out, there's still time to register for those that are still open.  Available classes are:

We Do Robotics

  • Students will create dancing birds, hungry alligators and roaring lions using motors, sensors and ‘We Do Robot’ kits. They will explore theme-based activities in teams and develop skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Science & Technology (S & T)

  • Introduction to levers, gears, pulleys, form and function, are all a part of this course. Children will work in teams to create fun and exciting inventions. Each team will create working LEGO models while learning fundamental concepts in science and technology.

Simple Machines — Early Learning

  • Explore levers, wheels, axles, gears and pulleys using the familiar LEGO DUPLO toy. Students will examine and alter the movement of everyday machines in a scale designed for young hands.

NXT Robotics

  • The course uses the new Lego Mindstorm NXT and laptops to introduce the beginning and expanded phases of LEGO Robotics and programming. Children 10 and older work in teams to create a robot that follows commands and problem solving challenges using touch, light, ultra-sonic, and sound sensors.
