Frisco Family Services, in its ongoing commitment to best serve its local Frisco and Frisco ISD community, is holding its first-ever summer Community-wide Food Drive on Saturday, July 20. Based on what Frisco Family Services is seeing, the summer months are especially difficult for families in crisis and often referred to as “hungry season.” Children on the free/reduced lunch program during the school year now require extra meals at home each day. The cost of keeping homes cool, along with gas, water, and other utilities continues to increase. For families already unable to keep a stable household, any financial increase can make putting food on the table impossible. The goal of the summer Community-wide Food Drive is to help ensure local families in crisis don’t go hungry – no matter what season.
“While an increase in hunger during the summer is hard to see with all the business development that is going on around us, the problem is real,” said Executive Director at Frisco Family Services, Nicole S. Bursey. “With school out, and utility expenses rising, we are seeing more and more families walk through our doors not knowing how they will feed their family. Ensuring that everyone has food to eat is critical – especially our children and seniors. As a community, we can rally together and make this happen. Let’s come together to make our FeedFrisco initiative a priority. Donate to our summer Community-wide Food Drive and help ensure no one goes hungry in our community.”
Participate in this summer's Community-wide Food Drive and have an immediate and lasting impACT on your local community! Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, donate critical food pantry items directly to Frisco’s only community Food Pantry, located at 9085 Dogwood St., Frisco.
Because of the support from its community, Frisco Family Services was able to provide more than 540,000 meals to families in crisis this past year.
